Lab 9 – speculative interaction

Working in groups (3 to 4 people), invent, design, and prototype an interactive artifact which could exist in the universe of a fiction story from a book or movie you know, or maybe in the future that you imagine. Using the skills you’ve learned in class, your artifact must respond to a physical action or series of actions a person takes, and it must be amusing, surprising, or otherwise engaging. It doesn’t have to be practical, or complex, as long it shows that you understand the basics of digital and analog I/O and how to use them.

You will be presenting your work at the end of this lab with a performance. In this performance you will convey the purpose of the artifact without explaining it. Show, don’t tell! and be sure you do not create an infomercial, you are not selling a product.

Remember to document your work, especially how people interact with your device. Make sure to write a conclusion about your project, whether you achieved your goal or still extra work should be done.
