A- What are the possibilities for interaction that you can envision? 

Currently, the computational media’s interaction entails human visual sense, auditory sense, facial expression and the movement of body…… Apart from that, computers may interact with people’s emotion. For example, using the AI technology, lots of softwares can analyze users’ emotion and offer different options accordingly. In the future, computers may even interact with people’s dreams. I think there’s already a prototype made by researchers.

B- What are some of the benefits of controlling physical elements with computational media and of controlling screen-based computational media through physical interaction? 

They both bridge the gap between virtual and reality, which gives the users a sense of excitement. Controlling physical devices with computers greatly simplifies the sophisticated physical interface and improves the usability and convenience. On the other hand, people can better engage when controlling screen-based media through physical objects, especially with regard to interactive installation and art projects. Besides, physical elements are more reliable compared with virtual interface. 

C- Can you think of real world applications that take advantage of communication between the physical and screen-based computational media?

I think the smart delivery locker is a great example, which has been used widely in lots of Chinese cities. When you want to take away your packages, first you need to put in your phone numbers and a code. After the computer inside the locker finishes the identification with the face recognition technology, the locker that contains your packages will open automatically.
