homework day 4 – Scarlett

• Write shortly about your previous experiences communicating ideas and prototyping if you have any. Compare the crafting method you have used in the past to prototype and what you learned today. How do you think that these digital fabrication methods can help you with your future projects?

In the past group projects, I used to draw posters for communication but I never really considered the technique of digital fabrication. I think digital fabrication will definitely add more texture to my presentation and therefore have a better effect of communicating ideas.

• Read The art of interaction. Based on your reflections on the reading, define in your own words what interaction is for you.

In the paper, the author says that interactive activities are not just in someone’s head but can be seen in terms of movement, sound or changing images. Also, interaction allows artists, technologists and other professionals to form a healthy ecology.

• Finally, explain what contributes to a successful interactive experience based on your definition of interaction.

I think a successful interactive experience should stimulate many dimensions of human senses, such as vision, the sense of hearing, the sense of touching, etc. Also, it should be interdisciplinary, which encourages collaboration between people from different fields for a mutual goal.
