Homework day 2-Nicole

Ultrasonic sensor (output: LED)
With Grace and Dora
Touch sensor (output: LED)
With Grace and Dora

Question 1 We have chosen the touch sensor and the ultrasonic sensor because we’d like to see the way two mechanisms that’s so often used in our day-to-day life actually work. We applied LEDs as our output because the way light is activated by our contacts or impending movements reminds us of the way we would use a light switch at home. It’s interesting to experiment with these different types of inputs. I may use a touch sensor to simulate an MP4 listening experience: whenever I want to listen to a song, I simply import the codes on to the existing circuit. Such experience can also be created using the ultrasonic sensor: if I’m relaxing on nearby furniture, if I have everything ready, I don’t even have to stretch my arms in order to play the music.

Question 2 Computer greatly reduced the physical labor often involved in our daily actions, hence greatly improved social productivity. A century ago, if a person would like to light up his/her house, he/she might have to retrieve some firewood, carry it all the way back home, pile them in the furnace, and spend time igniting them. If the fire run out early, the person would also have to repeat the process in order to replenish the fuel. However, if I would like to light up my house now, I would only have to pull a light switch and return to my previous duties. The reduction in actions has resulted in significant social changes: for example, since technologies like dishwashers and washing machines have spared females (assuming the traditional role) much time from doing chores, they now have the energy to fulfill their individual pursuits elsewhere: attending education and selecting career paths are the two of them. This resulted in the significant improvement over gender equality and females’ financial independence.
