1. Reflect on different interactions with technologies that you have observed in your daily life. Pick a few of these and write down your own definition of interaction based on your observations.
When I think of the most famous interaction between machines and humans, the touch screen of our mobile phones just pops up in my head. Such example illustrates what interaction means to humans. It’s about building relationships with machines. By giving inputs, we expect to have outputs, which have actual values and can help us in certain ways.
2. During the assembly of the circuits, we used many electronic components as inputs and outputs. Which of these components do you recognize in the circuit?
Battery, resistor, wire, LED, buzzer, voltage meter
3. Watch the video: Zach Lieberman: Interactive Art and write your thoughts on interaction and the future of technology.
Interaction between machines and humans extends our personal experiences. It extends our abilities and freedom. For example, I remembered from class that there is a paralyzed street artist who was able to paint again with the help of wearable devices. That touches my heart, just how HCI can benefit human beings.
Just like what Zach Liberman has said in the video, ‘technology is to make people breathe’, the future always lies at the interface of humanity and technology. With advanced technology to be a powerful tool, we aspire to serve more people and promote creativity and artistic expressions of humans.
