____What kind of machines would you be interested in building?
I’d like to build one that can provide users with multi-sensory experience by interacting with users in different ways. For example, I want to build a “time machine” , which enables users to flash back to different periods of time in history and to enjoy an immersive virtual traveling experience. That may involve the use of VR, soundtrack, and even smell.
_____Find a kinetic art installation. Post your thoughts on it and make a comparison with the work you did during this lab. Explain why you like this specific project and how interactive you think this is. If it is not, what would you add to the project to make it interactive?
The installation called passifolia creates a light-forest. By touching a light beam, the visitor widens it and releases a bird song just above him. He feels the warmth of the light on his skin, and the gentle sounds of nature surrounding him. Once the bird sound ends, the beam narrows down, inviting the visitor to continue his exploration.
I really appreciate this project for its creative way to interact with users. The sound and light coordinate with each other perfectly. And the change of the light zone is also informative. What’s more, standing below the light beam, the user may feel the warmth of it, which reproduces the feeling of sunshine vividly.
However, I want to change the color of the light to make it more similar to the natural light because the pure white one causes a sense of alienation. Plus, the background on the wall can be altered to something relevant to nature beings.
I think the installation and the project I’ve made in class both use sensors and try to interact with different sense of human beings.
interesting idea!
I wonder if you have considered to speculate about the future and also let people to go there.
